Lord
Lord and his partner Lucio were brought to the APAC Yard together after the riding centre where they were stabled closed down in 2016. They had been a partnership for many, many years, pulling a driving carriage, attending functions and taking part in exhibitions. They were an incredible sight to see; two huge black horses, so strong and with an amazing presence. On retiring and finding themselves without a home, they were sadly submitted to APAC.
Lord was blind, and he and his seeing partner Lucio were rarely ever apart. Lucio always took good care of Lord; when they first arrived, Lucio guided Lord around the new paddock and made sure he knew what was what, before he left Lord’s side.
With no sight at all in one eye and an extremely limited amount in the other (he could smell a carrot a mile off though, no fear of him missing out there!) Lord dealt well with his sight disability. He had a wonderful nature, needing company and loving attention. Lord enjoyed his freedom, loved being outside, and knew his way around the paddock. He just needed slight guidance at feeding time to ensure he knew where his food was placed.
We’d hoped to find a new home for this massive noble pair, believing that Lord could be adopted to the right people if going alongside his partner Lucio. It was never to be though, and we sadly said our goodbyes to Lucio in 2022. Lord remained living and being loved at APAC, until he joined his partner once again in 2025. Our loss is Lucio’s gain.
RIP the most magnificent duo.
